Dalton Crawley Partnership was instructed by David Wilson Homes to prepare a tender to redevelop a redundant schoolhouse in Fareham. The brief was to retain and convert the existing building, but a feasibility study of the site proved this was not a commercially viable option. The design, a sympathetic replacement building, reflected the original details of the schoolhouse but in a new built form. Hampshire County Council approved the planning application and the scheme has been one of David Wilson Homes’ standard setting examples of a landmark development; images of the designs are displayed in the lobby of the developer’s Southampton office.
